My journey in the world of lighting design began in Munich, where I honed my skills as a lighting technician for film, television, and commercial productions. Fueled by a passion for artistic expression, I ventured to Berlin, stepping into the role of lighting department manager at the rising techno hotspot, Sisyphos.
There, I played a pivotal role in crafting immersive light shows that became synonymous with the Sisyphos brand. These dazzling displays not only transformed the club’s atmosphere but also made their way to international stages, captivating audiences in London, Amsterdam, and Beirut.
During this transformative period, I expanded my expertise into projection mapping, collaborating on awe-inspiring projects such as the Bira Biro Festival in Addis Ababa and the Tribal Gathering Festival in Panama. These experiences deepened my connection to the interplay of light and space.
With an entrepreneurial spirit, I founded benselmann to pursue my vision independently. In Kiel, I brought this vision to life by forming the eastside lights collective, culminating in the creation of the Illustratio light festival—a celebration of light and creativity that continues to shine bright year after year.
Now back in Munich, I work alongside a dynamic network spanning Germany and Europe, designing captivating spaces illuminated with light and 3D video mapping. From marketing campaigns to festivals, cultural events, and promotions, my focus remains on pushing boundaries and creating unforgettable, immersive experiences.
